A reinterpretation of the traditional carafe, designed to serve water, wine or coffee. The opening of the carafe is designed to work in unison with hand brewing coffee drippers like the V60 or Kalita wave allowing you to brew directly into the carafe before serving.
All products are handmade and so each holds subtle differences which are a reminder of their uniqueness.
Stoneware clay with an iron speckle. The interior is finished with a simple transparent glaze which reveals the diffused iron mottling, whilst the outer is left unglazed for an earthy tactility.
“My work has a strong focus on function and form, which informs a simple aesthetic. I work with creative freedom, appreciative of traditional techniques, but not tied to them. I am influenced by nature and the environmental elements of the British coastline as well as the aesthetics of Korean and Japanese pottery.”
Blend of Stoneware and terracotta clay. The surface is unglazed.
Care: Dishwasher and microwave safe yet hand washing for extra care is recommended.
“I am a maker and second generation potter based in Falmouth, Cornwall, specialising in wheel thrown ceramics. I studied and trained to be a Product Designer before turning to pottery in 2016. From a young age I was gifted with exposure to clay and the many techniques in shaping it, often spending time in my mum’s studio after school and during holidays. Oddly, I don’t remember enjoying working with clay (aside from days when we did communal pit or raku firings), until I spent a day playing with clay in a friends studio, and suddenly my hands were met with an overwhelming sense of familiarity and an urge to create. It seems I hadn’t been ready to dedicate my life to this incredible material at a young age, but now older and a little wiser, I have never looked back – the obsession grows!
In 2019 I left London and moved into Cornwall’s rugged and exquisite landscape. It provides daily inspiration for new works, which draw on its tones, textures and energy. The natural materials imbue the works with a sense of history, as many are mixed with hand-dug, wild clays found along coastal walks. The desire to translate natures humble beauty is fundamental to my practice. The use of glaze is minimal allowing the clays texture and natural quality be revealed and revered. Tactility is in many ways, the focus of the pieces; the feeling of holding a pebble warmed by the days sun, the sense of connecting to nature through all the senses is my inspiration.

While most work sits in the area of functional pottery, predominantly tableware, I enjoy and revel in the freedom to create Original artworks. These are designed purely to stimulate the senses and arouse curiosity, and are often forms which challenge perceptions and the viewers understanding of traditional ceramics.”
