With Love present a celebration of British creativity with their first book, The Backbone of Britain: a collection which gives the reader an insight into the lives of hidden creatives living and working in the UK today. This is a book full of stories about intensely talented and inspiring people. The book features weavers, distillers, bag-makers, conservationists and blacksmiths, each of them creating their own unique kind of art.
To make their book Evans and Roberts travelled the length of the country from Devon to the Hebrides searching for talented people and writing their stories. Funded initially through Kickstarter and printed on 170 gsm Cumbrian GF Smith paper; only five hundred copies of this book have been printed so far.
Based in Manchester in the UK, With Love Project was created by two creative people: photographer Rob Evans and brand design and art direction expert Chris Roberts. The starting point for them was the idea to find and document a small amount of people who produce things with a passion and purpose. They searched the country, meeting numerous people and collecting their stories, asking them always the same question “Why do you do what you do ?” Nearly about 40 makers later they published a beautiful book “The backbone on Britain” but they’ve also made a film of all their visits that you can watch on their website.
Even though the book has been published, Rob and Chris’ With Love Project is not over as they keep searching for inspiring stories from inspiring people.
