Who said mechanics had to be boring? Not Write Sketch & that’s for sure. “Gear” is a set of two A6 notebooks inspired by industrial patterns but flushed with vibrant colour. The signature geometric patterns make this notebook one of Write Sketch &’s more high concept covers, creating a commentary on the beauty of the machine.
This set of 2 notebooks is part of the “Super” collection by Write Sktech &, a Milanese design team who are creating colourful, playful, and delightfully postmodern stationary. Now, “postmodern stationary” might conjure up a whole host of mental images, but for Write Sketch & this means retro 1980s style throwbacks, hidden cultural references, expressive patterns and bold geometric designs.
Write Sketch & was formed in 2014 by fashion designers Matteo Carrubba and Angela Tomasoni. The studio has a focus on graphics and print, and they seek to make the aesthetics of their products as interesting from an artistic perspective as they possibly can. Matteo and Angela have over ten years of experience in fashion and design through their agency, Officemilano, which they also founded together.
Of course, the standout feature of Write Sketch & is their weird and wonderful personality. It’s hard to create an atmosphere of lovable strangeness quite so profoundly as they have, and harder still to translate it across borders and cultures, but, somehow, they manage…
