The Blackwing Two-Step Long Point Sharpener creates a long point using a two-step sharpening process. The first hole sharpens the wood and the second hole precisely sharpens the graphite core.

Each sharpener features a matte rubberised finish for added grip and German steel sharpening blades. The sharpener can hold three fresh sharpens before needing to be emptied, and is available in black, white or grey.

MEET THE MAKER

Blackwing

Blackwing pencils have a storied history and a passionate following, prized for their sleek design, unique rectangular erasers, and unrivaled quality. Originally introduced in 1934 by the Eberhard Faber Pencil Company, the Blackwing 602 quickly became a favourite among artists, writers, and musicians, including legends like John Steinbeck, Chuck Jones, and Quincy Jones. The pencil’s signature ‘half the pressure, twice the speed,’ reflected its unique lead composition, making it a staple for creatives seeking precision and ease.

After being discontinued in 1998 after several corporate acquisitions, Blackwing pencils became a rare collector’s item with fans paying as much as $40 for a single pencil. In 2010 Blackwing was revived by a dedicated team with over 100 years of experience in the pencil industry. Since then, Blackwing has grown into a movement focused on slowing down, living mindfully, and reconnecting with creativity in a fast-paced digital world.

The craftsmanship behind Blackwing pencils is as noteworthy as its legacy. Each pencil is made using Genuine Incense-cedar, known for its smooth sharpening and durability, and premium Japanese graphite, which provides the signature glide that made the 602 famous. The distinctive rectangular eraser is designed for practicality, allowing users to replace the eraser without discarding the pencil – a testament to Blackwing’s commitment to sustainability and quality.

The company has grown into a cultural force that celebrates art, music, and education. Through initiatives like Blackwing Music and the Blackwing Foundation, the brand actively supports independent artists and advocates for arts and music education in schools. Blackwing Music highlights musicians who deserve wider recognition, offering live performances, storytelling, and album releases that honour the rich tradition of creativity associated with the brand.

Since its revival, Blackwing has expanded its product line to include thoughtfully designed notebooks and writing tools. These products are created with the same care and craftsmanship as the original pencils, further enhancing the brand’s reputation for quality and design. Each item is meant to inspire creativity and offer a tactile connection to the art of making – whether it’s writing, drawing, or composing music.
