Working at Godshot

Godshot is a small, highly focused coffee environment. We don’t recruit often, but when we do, we’re looking for people who genuinely care about craft, consistency, and hospitality.

Our coffee begins with considered sourcing, forming the basis of everything that follows.

Coffees are selected for quality and suitability, then prepared through a controlled, precise process.

The result is coffee made with intention, from sourcing to service.

Background

Our coffee begins with considered sourcing, forming the basis of everything that follows.

Coffees are selected for quality and suitability, then prepared through a controlled, precise process.

The result is coffee made with intention, from sourcing to service.

What we do

Godshot is built around a technical approach to coffee, with a strong emphasis on espresso extraction and precision. We work with some of the most advanced and best in class equipment currently available in the industry, and we use it properly – to explore extraction, repeatability, and flavour at a high level.

Alongside espresso, there’s a long-standing focus on brew methods, particularly pour-over. Curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to engage with theory as well as practice are important here.

This is not a volume-driven cafe, nor a space designed around seating or lingering. The format is compact, and the work is demanding in its own way – calm execution and consistency under pressure matter.

What we’re looking for

We’re interested in people who:

  • Have a solid grounding in specialty coffee and want to deepen their understanding
  • Are genuinely interested in espresso and extraction theory
  • Are enthusiastic learners and open to structured training and development
  • Take pride in consistency and accuracy, every single time
  • Have excellent people skills and a calm, friendly manner
  • Are reliable, considerate teammates with a good nature

Latte art is not a primary focus at Godshot. If this is your main interest, the role may not offer much beyond your existing skillset. That said, correct milk texturing and steaming are absolutely essential.

Commitment

Hospitality often involves movement, and that’s understood. However, training at Godshot is an investment. In return, we’re looking for a reasonable level of commitment – ideally around a year or more – so that skills can be developed properly and meaningfully.

The realities

It’s important to be upfront:

  • The space is small
  • Seating is limited
  • There’s a mix of retail and coffee service, which can mean competing priorities

If you thrive in large teams, expansive cafes, or highly social spaces, this may not be the right fit. If you enjoy focused work, technical refinement, and quiet excellence, it probably is.

How to apply

If this sounds like the kind of environment you’d value, please get in touch with a short introduction and your CV. We’re particularly interested in why Godshot appeals to you, your level of technical interest, and what you’re hoping to learn or develop here.

Recruitment happens periodically rather than continuously, but we do keep relevant applications on file. Please email sam@mygodshot.com.
