SITAKU

Design by Makoto Koizumi, the Sitaku collection brings together a variety of kitchen tools in a modular, compact, stackable design.

The concept behind the design was to create kitchen utensils that are more portable with the possibility of stacking, thus allowing some elements of food preparation to be done at the dining table. When finished, these utensils can be stacked together, so as to not clutter the dining table.

Commitment to size that can be handled with one hand.

Each component of the collection takes on a small circular form with a diameter of 10cm, making for perfect functionality and portability.

Combining new technologies with traditional craftsmanship.

Another important thing that Mr. Koizumi considered in product development was how to implement technologies only available in Arita to craft useable surfaces from porcelain.

For example, the grinding surface of the grater, which has a rough texture like sand, to finely grate wasabi, ginger or garlic.

THE DESIGNER

Makoto Koizumi

Born in Tokyo in 1960, Koizumi studied design under Choei Hara and Shige Mitsu Hara. Koizumi Studio was established in 1990, where he produces designs for multiple subjects, from chopsticks to architecture. In 2003, he opened a "Koizumi Tool Store" in Kunitachi City, Tokyo as a place to showcase his designs.
