Kintsugi Perfumes
Kintsugi Perfumes is a niche fragrance house founded in 2021 by longtime friends Martin Švach and Daniel Nikolov, two creatives from the Czech Republic. FThe brand’s name and philosophy are inspired by the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi, which involves repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer. This art form embraces imperfections and scars, transforming them into something uniquely beautiful.
Martin brings years of experience and a passion to Kintsugi fragrances — blending high-quality natural ingredients with modern artistry. He studied perfumery in Grasse, the world’s perfume capital, where he honed his skills in crafting complex, evocative scents. Daniel leads the brand’s vision and storytelling, shaping how each fragrance resonates with wearers and reflects the philosophy behind Kintsugi.
Kintsugi Perfumes has been committed to sustainability and responsibility since its inception. Fragrances are crafted using natural essential oils and responsibly sourced raw materials, with many ingredients coming from ethical suppliers in Grasse. This approach reflects their respect for both the environment and the traditions of perfumery. The duo believes that true luxury lies in transparency, craftsmanship, and genuine care, rather than lavish marketing and extravagant packaging.
Each perfume in the Kintsugi line is designed to be gender-neutral, breaking away from traditional fragrance categories. Instead of limiting their creations to ‘masculine’ or ‘feminine’, Martin and Daniel focus on emotional resonance and storytelling, inviting everyone to experience the scents regardless of gender. The result is a collection of perfumes that feel personal, authentic, and versatile, like the golden veins in repaired pottery symbolising strength and beauty born from vulnerability.
One standout fragrance, Phénix, exemplifies the brand’s ethos perfectly. Inspired by the myth of the phoenix rising from its ashes, the scent blends smoky leather, spicy pineapple, and rich coffee notes to evoke transformation and rebirth. This perfume encapsulates the idea that even after being broken, one can emerge renewed and stronger. It’s a perfect example of how Kintsugi Perfumes marries poetic storytelling with meticulous craftsmanship.
