April Coffee
Denmark
April Coffee Roasters was founded by Swedish native, Patrik Rolf, in 2016. Rolf first began working with coffee in his hometown after meeting Matts Johanson, the founder of ‘da Matteo’ – a local roastery and coffee shop in Gothenburg. Patrik learned everything from roasting to brewing from the ground up at da Matteo. “ “After two years at da Matteo, I wanted some international coffee experience. The coffee scene in Sweden was still very young and wasn’t as dynamic and exciting as in the rest of the world. So I started looking for new places to work and eventually moved to Berlin to work for a local coffee roastery. In Berlin, I met baristas and coffee roasters from all over the world. I started to travel more and better understand the coffee industry. After three years in Berlin, it was time for me to start my own company.” — Patrik Rolf, founder Patrik moved to Copenhagen, where the speciality coffee scene was still in its infancy back in 2016, to begin his own coffee project - April Coffee Roasters. April source all of their coffee directly from farmers who set their own prices. Their ambition is to grow together with the farmers, creating a future that is sustainable for all parties. The green coffee is transported to the roastery and coffee shop in Copenhagen. In 2022 April Coffee Roasters opened a second coffee shop in Seoul, South Korea. In addition to coffee beans, April have developed a line of Nespresso compatible coffee capsules, filter drip packs, and an entire line of coffee brewing equipment. Founder Patrik Rolf has also released a book - From Nerd To Pro: A Coffee Journey - where he details his experience going from a nerd to a professional in the coffee industry as part autobiography, part guide. April Coffee Roasters give back to the industry through the April Athlete Program - sponsoring coffee competitors all around the world, helping them grow their skills while giving them a platform to share their journey.
