Bonanza Coffee Roasters

Germany
Founded by Berliner Yumi Choi & business partner Kiduk Reus in 2006, Bonanza Coffee Roasters are considered Berlin’s original speciality coffee roastery & café, and a pioneer throughout Europe. Yumi was first inspired after visiting the Monmouth Coffee Company in London, and after trying high quality coffee for the first time, realised she could not go back to drinking coffee like she had before. Bonanza now has four coffee shops in Berlin, and a second roastery in Seoul. The coffee beans are sourced from Farms in Ethiopia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Kenya, Indonesia, and Colombia. Bonanza pay a significantly higher premium than fair trade prices. To this day, Yumi regularly visits cafes and roasters across Europe to bring back sample beans— ” That’s what we’re here for, to showcase how coffee can taste, but also to share what’s going on internationally in the coffee world. ” -Yumi Choi Bonanza roasts for and supplies a number of Berlin cafés, and other companies look to Bonanza for advice on setting up their own cafés and roasteries. Bonanza customers tend to be a mix of German & English speakers from across globe. Today, Berlin’s roasters and coffee connoisseurs have formed a network called the Berlin Coffee Society. Berlin, one of Europe’s most vibrant capitals, now has an eclectic range of speciality coffee shops, yet Bonanza is highly respected as one of Europe’s third wave pioneers.
