Alvin Bunawan has built his career inside one of the fragrance industry's quiet powerhouses. He joined MANE in late 2015 as a fragrance evaluator, learning to read compositions with a critical ear long before he touched a single formula. By September 2017 he had progressed to trainee perfumer status, and within roughly a year he earned the title of Junior Perfumer, a role he held at MANE until May 2024.

His academic grounding at Institut Pertanian Bogor gave him a scientific fluency in chemistry and natural materials, which proved essential when translating raw ingredients into finished compositions. Based in Jakarta, he operates at an intersection that few of his peers occupy: a perfumer working from Southeast Asia for a global house, shaping scents that speak both to regional sensibilities and international markets. His collaboration on 'Whisper of Rice,' a project celebrated for its poetic take on Indonesian identity, has positioned him as one of the more distinctive emerging voices from the region. His trajectory suggests a perfumer still in ascent, with much of his most ambitious work likely ahead.
