The idea for creating candles in reusable cocktail glasses was born in 2015, when founder Steve Soderholm was home from travelling the world as a touring drummer. Inspired by a childhood spent in the Minnesota North Woods, Steve set out to develop rich, earthy fragrances that could emulate the finest scents found in nature while also elevating the experience of a room. In 2018, Ranger Station launched their signature scents as eaux de parfum, transforming their acclaimed compositions into rich and luxurious personal scents that capture the essence of Nashville – mountains, forests, ranches, music, and whiskey.

The original scent in the Ranger Station line of fragrances and inspired time spent exploring the coniferous forests of the Minnesota North Woods. Somewhere between the dewy evergreen fragrance of a pine forest and the leathery spice of a dustbowl rodeo, Leather + Pine combines powerfully aromatic notes of frasier fir and blue musk with the velvety warmth of leather and cedarwood.
A fragrance inspired by the most peculiar of places, Oakmoss began with the reminiscent smell of vintage Brut Aftershave, stripped to create a powerful symphony of clean and crisp notes. Laid with a base of warm wood, it’s tied together with a touch of lavender to accentuate a brighter, botanical quality. Almost like walking through a moss-studded forest with the lingering mist of a vintage, tiled shower. Peculiar.
The intensely earthy scent of sandalwood + bergamot is wildly aromatic but also subtle, with a mellow, woodsy finish. Like a well-worn linen shirt aged to perfection by sun and smoke, the scent is woven together with the deep-forest spice of redwood and vetiver and the clean, bright notes of white musk and citrus.

Notes of sawdust, timber, and clove give a unique depth to the fragrance that evokes the serene enchantment of a walk through the forests of the redwood national parks. The dry, aromatic freshness of papyrus, palo santo, and amyris work in harmony with the spice of cardamom and amber resin to create a scent that’s seasonless and enticingly complex.

Soderholm was a keen mixologist and enjoyed hosting friends for drinks. He began experimenting with candle-making on the stovetop, pouring his creations into whiskey glasses. He eventually graduated from the stovetop to the garage, then from the garage to a small Nashville studio. He soon mastered the fragrances he always dreamt of finding in the store but never could, and continued presenting them in the now-signature Ranger Station cocktail glasses—designed to be both reusable and collectable. Each one comes with a coordinating cocktail recipe in tribute to Ranger Station’s humble beginnings.
Having found the key to combining his passion for creating inviting spaces and well-crafted whiskey drinks for his friends and family, his off-the-road hobby quickly grew into a full-time gig. His sought-after candles have since expanded into a personal fragrance line that continues to evolve, with a growing worldwide following. Soderholm’s wife, Jordan, worked in marketing and helped with Ranger Station’s branding, logo, and website. She officially joined the team in 2020.
Ranger Station continues to develop unforgettable scent compositions that are both grounding whilst transcending the confines of the daily grind. Each candle is designed to add depth to any room it’s lit, and each personal fragrance — a statement of individuality and refinement that leaves a lasting impression. With its cult-like following, the brand launched a programme called ‘Features’ where they collaborate with artists and musicians on custom fragrances that complement their album or single.
