Calepino
Calepino decided to support the local community, to think their approach on an human scale, in a fair way, and to reduce all transport related to the manufacturing of the product. The family business has its own artisan workshop installed in their house from the 70s. This is where the notebooks are printed and pressed.
The cardboard comes from a cardboard factory created at the beginning of the 20th century.
Before leaving the workshop, each notebook is individually controlled, then each case is folded and assembled by hand.
Sustainability
The raw materials used (cardboard and paper) are of high quality and 100% recycled.
The cardboard shaped for the covers and the cases all bear the Eco-label “Ange Bleu”, and entirely recycled and void of any dangerous substances.
The paper comes from durable forests, the paper is whitened without any chlorine and comes from 100% recycled fibers (FSC, PEFC and ISO 14001 labels).
The product is printed in joy and happiness on Heidelberg printing machines with vegetable-based ink.
Furthermore, in order to avoid using plastic, the notebooks are not stored in packaging film but in recycled cardboard.
Calepino
Neither Hemingway, nor Picasso, nor even Van Gogh ever used a Calepino notebook – and for good reason: CALEPINO is a product of today bearing a timeless surge of quality. Brought to us by Fabrice Richard, the Calepino project was the product of a simple research into functional blueprints. Therefore, after having seen Denmark and discovered a passion for Scandinavian design, the founder of Calepino went to work for a French diary company. After a short spell of web designing, he found a love for paper creation. Thus, the Calepino notebook was born – atraditional yet technical notebook with an authentic vintage spirit. Doing this by privileging a local and responsible production. What guides him? The memory of those notebooks of his father’s, and “to create things as I wish they already were.”
”We are Fabrice & Virginie. But also François & the printing team, Moon & David or Germain behind their lenses, Jenn, Alfonso & Co for the studio, François L. and his feather and all the people who contribute directly or indirectly to the existence of Calepino.”
