FRAMA
Founded by Niels Strøyer Christophersen in 2011, FRAMA is a multi-disciplinary design studio that creates lifestyle objects to inspire the senses and encourage mindful living. With an emphasis on natural materials, simple geometries, and uncompromising quality, FRAMA’s work connects the imaginative with the practical, resulting in a uniquely warm and honest aesthetic.
Stepping into the FRAMA headquarters, housed in an 18th century pharmacy located in Copenhagen’s historic neighbourhood of Nyboder, it is evident how effortlessly they combine the two worlds together. The synergy between the past and present elements of the space is a direct link to how Frama defines their design ethos, and this creative dialogue sees FRAMA blend classical and contemporary influences with digital and new-age production.
”FRAMA is not interested in following seasonal themes and trends. For us, consistency is very crucial, whereas most furniture makers or design brands will change their products at least yearly – whether that be form, material, colour – or discontinue lines, in an endless cycle of new things. We’re interested in things that are a lot more permanent and long-lasting than that, because I think there is a beauty to how things age and wear over time.”
—Niels Strøyer Christophersen, founder
Through a dialogue with the past – and staying loyal to the distinctly Danish model of simplicity, timelessness and an appreciation of the basics – the studio designs elegant, understated pieces that are made to last a lifetime. FRAMA are achieving this success across a multitude of disciplines – furniture, homeware, lighting, apothecary, fragrance, and more. All of FRAMA’s work – from unique home fragrances to the complete architectural design of a restaurant interior – is directly informed by the convergence and interplay of four primary experiential influences: travel, nature, spaces, and stories.
