After sitting on an unused Uganda label for 3 years, we’re thrilled to be able to run a couple of great lots back to back to introduce this new origin to our lineup. The largest coffee exporting country in Africa, Uganda can often fly under the radar because the overwhelming majority of coffee grown is Robusta, however there are a few distinct areas of higher altitude that are more well suited for growing Arabica. This particular lot comes from Nyabirongo, in the southern slopes of the Rwenzori Mountains, bordering the DRC. Here in this region hundreds of smallholders deliver SL14 & SL28 cherry to Agri Evolve at the Nyabirongo factory. These SL varieties you may recognize from neighboring Kenya, renowned for their bright florals and distinct acidity, and in this case make an absolutely great showcasing of how excellent Ugandan coffee can be.
