Postalco Oyster Writing Set

This letter set, sized at just a bit larger than a postcard, allows the thoughts to flow in a more casual way.

The particular warm surface texture of this paper is not too smooth, but still lets the pen glide. Ideal for ballpoint, pencil, and fountain pens. Box includes 30 pieces of letter writing sheets and 10 envelopes. Made in Japan.

Versatile Paper

Laid paper has a good thickness but also a warm and slightly textured surface. Ideal for ballpoint, pencil, and fountain pens. This paper is pH neutral. Contains 25% cotton fibre and made with non-chlorine bleached fibres. It is FSC certified.

Oyster Envelope

The envelope shape is an original Postalco design and is sized to perfectly fit the letter writing sheets. Ideal for ballpoint, pencil, and fountain pens, the paper is pH neutral. It contains 65% cotton fiber and made with non-chlorine bleached fibres.

Copper Plate Printed

The long history of copper plate printing began in the 15th century. It is known as the way many formal documents are printed. The remarkably fine lines possible with etched plate printing is what makes it the choice for printing money, stamps and the stationery of royal families worldwide.

Like an Oyster

A letter is like an oyster: protected outside while it conceals something special inside. We don’t usually look carefully at oyster shells, but they are dignified and their rugged surface shows their experience. An engraved oyster is carefully printed from an etched copper plate on the box.

Making the Invisible Visible

Stationery makes invisible, but important things, into something visible. The moment you close a digital display or phone, your calendar is gone. That’s what we feel is not satisfying about some digital solutions for things like to-do lists. There is still a very clear function for paper and stationery.

Learning from Japan

The craftspeople, suppliers, and small workshops found in Japan make things not to be found anywhere else. We are fortunate to work with family businesses that are so focused on their craft. Don’t put Postalco items on a shelf or in a drawer. Their beauty is revealed through daily use. They will help you feel good at home and be ready in a meeting.

Ecologically Made in Japan

‘Mottainai’ is the culture of not wasting. This also means making something well. All items are made in Japan where we are able to find exceptional attention to detail. Postalco also develop a wide range of materials in Japan that are worth pouring time into to create items that will age beautifully. The wood comes from managed forests in Hokkaido, the leather is vegetable tanned to avoid using the toxic chemicals used in other tanning methods. The fabrics are woven in Japan with tightly managed wastewater and carefully sourced fibers. The washi paper is hand screened with renewable Kozo fibres and any remaining pulp is reused. Made in Japan means tight environmental regulations for beautiful products that are much easier on the environment.
