Based in Turku, Finland, Hetkinen was founded in 2018 by designer and former sales manager, Mona Isotupa. Hetkinen’s mission is to bring people closer to nature in their busy everyday lives via high-quality product innovations. All of Hetkinen’s products are gender-neutral, vegan, and manufactured in Finland at the company’s own factory. Hetkinen uses Finnish pine heartwood for their jars and containers. It takes a pine tree 40 years to begin to produce heartwood, so it is used sparingly & respectfully, and as such, knots or stains in the wood are not discarded. Pine heartwood is used for it’s superior resistance to rot, antibacterial properties, and because it doesn’t absorb moisture.
Fragrance

A breathable and sugary scent with a mission for enthusiasm. Amuse air acts as your own muse. The top notes create a sweet cocktail: tangerine, jasmine, cedarwood, lavender and lemon velvety accords. Patchouli and vanilla with its powdery floral notes end the composition.

A supermellow scent with a mission for the wood. Bark Bout is reminiscent of beautiful raw wood material. The scent is warm, golden brown, and earthy. The scent is full of aromas of the wood, resin, and a returning to the roots.

A hypergenuine scent in the tone of the forest, Forest Riot is fresh, very green, and energetic. This fragrance is full of life, the future, and the power of nature. Notes of pine and Siberian fir are sweetened with a touch of juniper.

Mystical, dark, chic. ‘Majime’ is a Japanese word meaning ‘seriousness’ or ‘soberness’, and it reflects the dark but calm tones of the fragrance. Chamomile melts in notes of myrrh and cedar, which rests on a deep ambrette base.

Shizuka is relaxed citrus concoction. The scent is brisk, yellow, cheerful, and easy. Light aromas of grapefruit, lemon, and tangerine, mingle with wild forest flowers.

An ode to a lively summer. The top notes create a lively cocktail: Finnish white rose, bergamot, rose pepper, lavender and refreshing lemon accord. Hetkinen is a Finnish word and means ‘wait a minute’ in English. When the Finns are thinking something, they usually say ‘hetkinen’. The brand’s mission is to embed a ‘Hetkinen moment’ in our daily lives – a moment to pause and rebalance.
Mona Isotupa defines herself as ‘a mother of two children, feminist, vegetarian, animal and nature lover,’ as well as being an activist against deforestation. The company drives inspiration from the Finnish forests and trees. The design approach is careful and minimalist. Everything is made in harmony with nature, and thus, Hetkinen products are designed for everyone to enjoy without limitations due to gender, age, or skin type.
