L3 – Strawberry Black Sesame

This drink is founded on our homemade black sesame paste from which a praline paste is formed. This is an ingredient often found in Japanese / Asian cuisines and used to make sweet and savoury dishes – sometimes referred also as Kuro Neri Goma ( 久喜焙煎黒ごまペースト ).
We roast the black sesame seeds until they turn a deep brown colour and then ground into a paste. The paste is smooth and creamy, with a thick and slightly gritty texture. It has a rich, nutty flavour and has been known also have various health benefits, such detoxifying the body, regulating urinary system and nourishing the hair.
The inspiration behind this was a sweet traditional dessert Lesley had when growing up. A recent trip to Hong Kong brought all those childhood memories rushing back. The black sesame was so fragrant. It was simply pure grounded sesame seeds with a little syrup, turning it into a nutty, comforting sweet sesame porridge. Pure delight.
