19-69 was founded by Swedish artist, Johan Bergelin, and his wife Catharina, in 2015. The brand launched their first five fragrances in 2017, following a 2 year immersive creative process involving artists from Italy and Scandinavia. Each scent is composed inspired by a different era, culture or setting from Africa, Europe, the US and Asia. Art, music, trends and cultures have all left their marks on the fragrances both in terms of content, name and packaging.

Rooted in the complexities of the tropical grass from which it was distilled, Vetiver is a refined expression of an apothecary ingredient with a long and storied history in perfumery. Created to highlight the intrinsically clean and earthy aroma we are most fond of, this considered fragrance eschews the heavy smokiness usually associated with the modern iteration of the scent.
Nasomatto was established in Amsterdam in 2008 by expert Italian perfumer, Alessandro Gualtieri. Meaning ‘crazy nose’ in Italian, Nasomatto is an experimental olfactory platform which carries 12 bold and complex fragrances, each an artistic personal expression of its creator. The brand maintains secrecy around ingredient lists and compositions, opting instead for ambiguous yet evocative descriptions as its trademark. Each scent’s creative essence is communicated, leaving the actual notes for the wearer to discover and appreciate gradually over time.
Absinth is a dark green chypre that whispers of untamed wilderness. An ode to wormwood, it is crisp and herbaceous entwined with earthy vetiver and the dewy freshness of moss. There’s a smooth natural vanilla sweetness which is almost gourmand in nature. The fragrance deepens, transforming from a fresh and uplifting green to a sultry, animalic musk with woody patchouli.
Meaning ‘chaos’ in Italian, Baraonda opens with a gourmand delicacy – dark chocolate, warm cinnamon and malt whiskey. One can almost feel the familiar boozy burn of straight liquor. Deep, dark woody notes cut through the cozy drunken sweetness with a deep sense of foreboding, heightening the drama and chaos. A touch of mysterious rose flutters hazily from the darkness.
Intriguing yet intrusive, Black Afgano is one of Gualtieri’s more polarising scents. Opening with a sweet sticky resin, followed by a wall of smoke and incense with herbaceous aromatic accents. Blunt and flat woods with a hint of coffee round out the base. Overall, Black Afgano is dark and heavy with a smoky, spaced out THC bliss.
Blamage roughly translates from German as ‘failure’ – the sinking premise behind the fragrance. Gualtieri selected raw ingredients at random to create Blamage. It opens with a harsh and screechy mineralic, even metallic accord, which gives way to an airy yet balanced scent – clean and softly woody with white floral facets. The florals begin to dry and fade, reminiscent of pressed flowers. Powdery musks blur ambery woods before a smooth refined leather emerges. The lasting impression is fresh but comforting.
Sophisticated and mature, Duro is reminiscent of a heavy leather chesterfield in a mahogany-panelled room. Sweet alcoholic accents of whisky and honey mingle with the heavy woods. Italian for ‘hard’ or ‘tough’, Duro is an expression of traditional masculinity.
Fantomas: a criminal genius. Fantomas is as mysterious as it is mesmerising. It opens with a harsh chemical explosion – fireworks, melting plastic, silver bullets. As the smoke begins to clear a tainted heart emerges. Ruthless but with charm, there’s a playful but sinister juxtaposition between the fluidity of wet, syrupy melon, with the rigidity of overbearing concrete brutalist architecture. Blunt and cold, but menacingly effervescent – a fruity sweetness fizzes on the tongue. Imagine a musty grey, but make it neon.
Named after Venus, the Roman goddess of love, Narcotic Venus is an addictive blend of pheromones under classy florals of tuberose, lily and jasmine. Unassuming at first spritz with a strong floral opening, the crystalline notes begin to amplify – reminiscent of a sweet, drunken nectar. Imagine the youthful and glowing skin of a blushing goddess, Narcotic V is sensual and feminine, with an ethereal quality. Lush and lustful – whispering desire behind a powdery veil of youthful innocence.
Nudiflorum is a fragrance of intimate exposure. It opens with metallic jasmine piercing a sparkly rhubarb cloud. A heaviness begins to set in as the composition deepens into a wild, earthy, animalic blend. Rich and hypnotic, Nudiflorum is dirty but innocent, in a primal and intimate way. There’s a herbal and natural sweetness anchored by heady, animalic notes – reminiscent of the beauty and brutality of nature. Pardon is a timeless fragrance that evokes old world elegance. It opens with dark woody notes followed by bittersweet dark chocolate. There is a sophisticated creaminess in the form of tonka bean rounding out the depth. The woodiness is sustained throughout the olfactory journey, with oud enveloped in precious spices adding a rich ambery nuance to the base.
Sadonaso is the explosive pleasure of the senses. It opens with a jolt of coffee, before deepening into an enigmatic smoky musky blend. A touch of sandalwood emits a woody warmth. Based in Hong Kong, creative studio Oddity have crafted a line of niche fragrance which exemplifies their dedication to storytelling, concept and artistry. Each scent was born from Oddity’s written stories, and it was the task of master perfumers, Mark Buxton and David Chieze, to translate these into stunning olfactory compositions. Oddity’s meticulous approach continues to the unique design of the bottles and packaging. Ranger Station was born in 2015 when founder, Steve Soderholm, returned to Nashville from traveling the world as a touring drummer. Inspired by a childhood spent in the Minnesota North Woods, Steve set out to develop rich, earthy fragrances that could emulate the finest scents found in nature. He soon mastered the fragrances he always dreamt of finding in the store but never could, pouring each of his finished candles into a perfectly-weighted cocktail glass—designed to be both reusable and collectable. The original scent in the Ranger Station line of fragrances and inspired time spent exploring the coniferous forests of the Minnesota North Woods. Somewhere between the dewy evergreen fragrance of a pine forest and the leathery spice of a dustbowl rodeo, Leather + Pine combines powerfully aromatic notes of frasier fir and blue musk with the velvety warmth of leather and cedarwood.
A fragrance inspired by the most peculiar of places, Oakmoss began with the reminiscent smell of vintage Brut Aftershave, stripped to create a powerful symphony of clean and crisp notes. Laid with a base of warm wood, it’s tied together with a touch of lavender to accentuate a brighter, botanical quality. Almost like walking through a moss-studded forest with the lingering mist of a vintage, tiled shower. Peculiar.
The intensely earthy scent of sandalwood + bergamot is wildly aromatic but also subtle, with a mellow, woodsy finish. Stora Skuggan was founded by a group of five multidisciplinary artists – Anna Barkne, Tomas Hempel, Olle Hemmendorff, Jonas Nordin & Martin Nicolausson – who met in 2005 whilst studying together at Stockholm’s Beckmans College of Design. The five embarked on a journey of olfactive exploration, learning and experimenting over years, before officially launching in 2015 with their first fragrance: Fantôme de Maules. Swedish for “the big shadow”, Stora Skuggan meticulously handcraft gender-fluid niche fragrances, each imbued with an enchanting narrative. Combining the essence of nature with the refinement of Scandinavian design, their six fragrances evoke an ethereal escapism.

An olfactory impression of gold, with radiant warmth from saffron and blood orange, and the glossy, luxurious musk velvione (a material that has been described as pressing the nose to the skin of a newborn’s scalp). Gum acacia, a syrup made from acacia sap, provides sugary sweetness balanced by salty amber and incense.
The setting: Maules, a small village in the french-speaking part of Switzerland, surrounded by agricultural fields and dense forests. The subject: An enigmatic being, seen by many wandering the local woodlands for the past decade, dressed in nothing but cloaked camouflage and an obsolete mask. Most likely human but one cannot be sure. Looming at almost two meters tall he seems to take particular interest in the surrounding flora and fauna.
A highly unique fragrance, Mistpouffer captures the scent of mystical thunder – a sonic boom coming from the fog. After four years of trying to capture this phenomenon in scent, the result is a fragrance that is foggy but not aquatic; smoky but not heavy; natural, but in equal parts supernatural.
The famous Swiss naturalist Conrad Gessner is considered the founder of modern zoology, but as a true 16th century scientist he was also: a prominent physician, botanist, linguist and – of course – spelunking adventurer. In his ‘Descriptio Montis Fracti sive Montis Pilati’ from 1555, he chronicles his climb to the summit of Mount Pilatus, but we also get to follow him into the caves of the Alps. ‘At night, the moon shines into the cave so brightly the light itself seems to take form, like a mist. It gathers in the ceiling and makes the limestone stalactites glitter and gleam, dripping tears of white liquid into puddles on the rock floor that never dries. Moonmilk.’
Silphium was a plant that grew in the area of Cyrene, present day Libya, and was widely renowned as a spice, medicinal herb and perfume ingredient throughout the empires of the classical antiquity. Stora Skuggan’s rendition of this historical plant is created by researching surviving assumed relatives of Silphium, using aromachemicals (the molecular building blocks of scents). This is set against a background of ancient incense, woods and leather.
Thumbsucker draws from an ancient story about a king named Yuvanaswa. Embedding nodes of purity and freshness, the heart of this scent creates a deeper sweetness through violet and cherry tones, with an underlying bitterness, just like the story.
